PAT-ADD DA 788

PAT-ADD DA 788 is a specialized stabilizer designed for water-in-organic solvent-borne alkyd resins and coatings. It enables the stabilization of water within solvent-borne alkyd paints, allowing partial replacement of mineral spirits with water. This leads to a significant reduction in VOC content, delivering a more cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution.

Properties:
  • Reduces paint production costs by allowing the addition of water.
  • Lowers VOC levels for a more sustainable formulation.
  • With PAT-ADD DA 788, typically 20–35% of the white spirit traditionally used in alkyd paints can be replaced with water.
Applications:
  • Water is insoluble in white spirit and alkyd resin solutions.
  • When mixed under medium to high shear conditions, water forms dispersed droplets within the resin solution.
  • Without stabilization, the mixture will separate over time, leading to instability.
  • Provides unique electrostatic stabilization through its polyelectrolyte action.
  • Keeps water droplets separated, creating a stable emulsion.
  • Minimizes common side effects associated with traditional emulsifiers, such as foam generation
